In accordance with Article 9.10.1.3., all standpipe system requirements must comply withSubsection 3.2.9. Therefore, Sentence 3.2.9.1.(3) is applicable to the below grade levels.As a result, to strictly comply with the OBC, a standpipe system would be required for the B2 level.This Alternative Solution addresses the requirements of Article 3.2.9.1., and the functional and objective statements.In accordance with Sentence 9.10.18.2.(1), a fire alarm system is required for the building as the building contains more than 3 storeys, including storeys below the first storey.As a fire alarm system must be designed to be continuous, the Part 3 requirement for manual pull stations is applicable to the entire building. Therefore, in conformance with Sentence 3.2.4.18.(1), a manual pull station shall be installed near the principal entrance to the building, and near every required exit. In addition, in lieu of smoke alarms, smoke detectors shall be installed throughout the building that are connected to the fire alarm system.This Alternative Solution shall also address the requirements of Sentence 3.2.4.18.(1).
