Project Description
The Rapid Transit Stations of the Finch West LRT are required to comply with Section 3.13 of the OBC. Based on the acceptable solutions in the OBC, the fire alarm system at a rapid transit station is required to be monitored the central supervising station which is required to conform to CAN/ULC-S561, under the two following provisions:¿Sentence 3.13.5.4.(1): Each rapid transit station shall be monitored by a central supervising station conforming to CAN/ULC-S561, ¿Installation and Services for Fire Signal Receiving Centres and Systems¿, and¿Sentence 3.13.5.6.(2): The annunciator at a rapid transit station shall be monitored simultaneously at the central supervising station.During the testing and commissioning period prior to the commencement of full revenue service, Mosaic Transit General Partnership (MTGP) is the `interim operator¿ of the system. After testing and commissioning is complete, MTGP will pass over control of the Transit Vehicle Operations to the Toronto Transit Commission. MTGP will continue to maintain and operate all mechanical and electrical systems, including emergency systems for a 30-year period following the commencement of revenue service on the Finch West LRT. The fire alarm monitoring for the Finch West LRT is designed around integration with the Hillcrest Operational Control Centre (HOCC), operated by TTC, however, it is not clear if the HOCC (which is outside the scope of the FWLRT project) will conform to CAN/ULC-S561During the Pre-Revenue Service Period (PRSP) and the period following the commencement of revenue service this alternative solution proposes that the fire alarm system be connected to a remote CAN/ULC-S561 facility that relays fire alarm signals to the alternative central supervising station. Under this Alternative Solution, the central supervising station operation, and the operation and response to the Fire Alarm system are under the control of MTGP.
