Project Description

t is proposed to provide 65 mm standpipe hose valve connections on the main landings, or intermediate landings where it is not possible due to stair design, next to exit doors for the exit stairs on each floor level in the proposed building and in the three below-grade levels (Attachment A) in accordance with the standpipe design requirements of the NBC (Attachment B) and NFPA 14, referenced by the NBC.This proposal is intended to follow the NBC approach in providing the hose connections in the stairs in lieu of installing fire hose stations, as required by Division B, Subsection 3.2.9 of the OBC. The OBC prescriptive requirements include hose stations provided with 30 m of fire line hose, 38 mm nozzles, 38 mm and 65 mm hose valve connections and a listed fire extinguisher in each hose station which would be otherwise installed within floor areas and within 5 m of every exit.
