Project Description

Alternative Solution - out the project, several existing columns protected with terracotta block have been found to not meet the required fireresistance rating when calculated using MMAH Supplementary Standard SB-2 based on equivalent thickness. These conditions were previously assessed to determine the required additional fire protection measures to achieve the required fire-resistance rating of the structure as shown in 21 121575 ALT 00, approved on Mar 30, 2021. This submission is an additional terracotta column condition outside of the elevator shaft that requires an Engineering Judgement for improving the fire-resistance rating to meet the required 2-hours. The methodology used for this is the same as the previously approved Alternative Solution referenced above, but with different existing thicknesses and orientation of terracotta protection.
