Project Description
Alterative Solution to waivethe requirements for installation of smoke dampers at air-transfer opening locations. Related to Building Permit 20 201517 BLD 00 NBAs required by OBC Sentence 3.1.8.7.(2), except as provided in OBC Article 3.1.8.8A., a smoke damper or a combination smoke and fire damper is required to be installed in conformance with OBC Article 3.1.8.9A. in ducts or air-transfer openings that penetrate an assembly required to be a fire separation where the fire separation separates a public corridor.Based on the discussion provided in the Alternative Solution Proposal, and since adding smoke dampers and/or combination smoke and fire dampers at air transfer openings will result in complications for the mechanical systems design, smoke dampers are proposed to not be provided.
