Project Description

This alternative solution is proposing a change to the code required building fire standpipe and fire hose valve cabinet requirements. Fire hose valve cabinets located throughout the building will be provided with a single 65 mm valve and 65 mm to 38 mm reducer in lieu of two separate valves. In addition, 38 mm fire hose will not be provided in each fire hose cabinet as building occupants are not properly trained for their use.To enhance fire fighter safety with the ability to connect to fire hose valves within fire rated stairwells 65 mm hose valves are being provided at all main stair landings in addition to the fire hose valve cabinets located throughout each floor of the building.
