Project Description

The alternative solution proposes that fire-resistance ratings for mass timber components of the proposed building be calculated in accordance with the methodology presented in CSA O86, "Engineering Design in Wood", Annex B, Fire resistance of large cross-section wood elements". This methodology is the current state-of-the-art in determining fire-resistance ratings for mass timber in Canada, and the alternative solution demonstrates the performance of this methodology through documentation and discussion.
