Project Description

The Grand Hall space is a two storey space, with a mezzanine / balcony, accessed from the 3rd floor level, overlooking the Grand Hall Space. The balcony is considered a mezzanine, and technically is located within the 2nd floor area. Given the configuration, occupants on the 3rd floor are required to egress through the 2nd floor area to access south exit stair. Therefore, the 3rd floor is not served by two exits.As compensating measure, a smoke control system, designed to meet OBC 3.2.8.9., will be provided in the Grand Hall space. The smoke control system will provide protection for occupants of the 3rd floor utilizing the balcony to access the south stair. With the provision of the smoke control system, an adequate level of protection is provided for the occupants utilizing the Grand Hall balcony to access the south exit stair.
