Project Description
Sentence 3.1.7.1.(1) requires the fire-resistance ratings for assemblies to be based on testing in accordance with CAN/ULC-S101 or on the basis of MMAH Supplementary Standard SB-2. Annex B of CSA O86 has been developed to determine fire-resistance ratings for mass timber elements based on previous testing to CAN/ULC-S101, but it is not yet part of the OBC acceptable solutions (although it is accepted in other jurisdictions). For this building, use of Annex B is proposed for the mass timber.
