Project Description

A total of two (2) automatic turnstiles are proposed for use on the first floor of the 186 Jarvis Street building. The automatic turnstiles are optical portal gates designated SLIMLANE 950 and SLIMLANE 940 produced by Automatic Systems America Inc. These automatic turnstiles (optical portal gates) will not delay or impede persons from moving to a safe location during an emergency and they will meet or exceed all of the applicable barrier-free requirements of the Code. The alternative solution also demonstrates that these automatic turnstiles can be connected to the building¿s fire alarm system and they meet all of the applicable standards for fire alarm systems which is referenced in OBC Article 3.2.4.5. In addition to the two automatic turnstiles, a glass swinging gate with lever handles and a mag lock is provided as an alternate means of egress from the secured area.
