Project Description

Proposal for alternative solution: - See 18 1846093.1.5.1 Noncombustible Materials Except as permitted by Sentences (2) to (4) and Articles 3.1.5.2 to 3.1.5.25., 3.1.13.4. and 3.2.2.16., a building or part of a building required to be of noncombustible construction, shall be constructed with noncombustible materials.The grease interceptors (GI) specified are constructed with combustible material. In order to maintain use of the specified GIs, it is proposed as an alternative solution to apply a factory coating of fire resistant paint on the units, which is tested to meet a flame spread value of less than 25 and smoke development value of less than 50. Enclosed is a letter from the GI manufacturer to confirm its testing. In addition to the fire resistant coating on the unit, a new 2-hour fire-rated room will be constructed to house the grease interceptors. We believe that the combination of the above two alternative solutions meets the requirements of OBC clause 3.1.5.1.
