It is proposed that non-fire-rated, sprinklered, naturally ventilated ¿Craftbilt¿ enclosures be constructed over 3 existing open-air area wells where doors open from 3 exit stairs serving basement levels. This proposal provides a rationale providing an alternate solution to the acceptable solutions of Division B of the Building Code (BC B) that usually apply to the construction the walls of exit stair shafts that extend above ground level from basements.
